Last updated Tuesday 14th July 2026
1. Introduction
Study Skills Zone Limited is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people participating in our workshops. As we operate within school environments, our safeguarding policy is aligned with the safeguarding policies and procedures of the schools we work with. This policy outlines our approach to safeguarding within school settings and sets out the procedures that all staff and contractors must follow to ensure the safety and protection of children and young people.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all staff, contractors, and volunteers engaged in the delivery of workshops on behalf of Study Skills Zone Limited within school settings.
3. Key Principles
We will adhere to the safeguarding policies and procedures of the schools we work with, ensuring compliance with their requirements.
All staff and contractors must undergo appropriate DBS checks as part of our safeguarding approach to recruitment.
All staff and contractors must receive basic safeguarding training, such as the "Child Protection in Schools: Secondary" course, to enable them to recognise signs of safeguarding issues and know how to respond appropriately within a school environment.
Our staff and contractors will always be accompanied by a member of school staff while conducting workshops on school premises when children are present.
4. Roles and Responsibilities
Matt Watson, Director of Study Skills Zone Limited, is the designated Safeguarding Lead.
The designated Safeguarding Lead will ensure that all staff and contractors are DBS cleared and have received appropriate safeguarding training.
Staff and contractors must familiarise themselves with the safeguarding policies and procedures of the schools we work with and follow them rigorously while on school premises.
Any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child or young person must be raised immediately with a member of the school staff who is supporting the event on the day.
The school staff member will then alert their designated Safeguarding Officer about the concern.
Our representative will report the incident directly to the designated Safeguarding Officer of the school, providing them with all relevant information.
The designated Safeguarding Officer of the school will then take appropriate action in line with their internal safeguarding procedures.
5. Training and Awareness
All staff and contractors must undergo DBS checks prior to engagement.
All staff and contractors must complete the "Child Protection in Schools: Secondary" course or equivalent basic safeguarding training.
Staff and contractors will be provided with any updates or amendments to safeguarding policies and procedures of the schools we work with as necessary.
6. Review and Monitoring
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation or best practice.
The effectiveness of safeguarding procedures will be monitored regularly, and any concerns or incidents will be addressed promptly.
7. Implementation
This policy will be communicated to all staff and contractors of Study Skills Zone Limited, and they will be required to confirm their understanding and compliance.
